How November 2, 2014 Changed My Life

March 30, 2018

Tara Juzeszyn is the owner of Fitness Premier Beecher. From an incredible weight loss journey to being a franchisee of the Fitness Premier where she started her own fitness journey. Tara never gave up and she is here to tell her story.

Tara was extremely active as a kid playing sports such as basketball, volleyball and softball. She ended up losing herself as she attended college and then, started a family. During these years her weight began climbing until she reached a tipping point. Her wake up call was her daughter. She wanted to be someone her daughter could look up to, and it didn’t just come down to the weight. Tara was unhappy with how she looked and felt. She was ready to live her best life. She hit 230 pounds while pregnant with her daughter and had only gotten back down to 221 by the time her daughter was one and a half years old.

“I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t healthy. I wanted to be better for her, for my family, and for me.”

Tara decided to join Fitness Premier Beecher in November 2014. Just like most people coming into the gym she wanted to lose weight but did not know where to start. She started on the elliptical for a week until her Fitness Assessment with Tom Reidy.

“I was terrified. I had no fitness level to speak of. I was also really introverted at this point so the thought of having to talk to this very muscular guy, even if he was a professional, made me incredibly nervous. I had nothing to worry about because Tom was incredibly kind and put me at ease as much as he could. That day was the turning point for me. He helped me face my true starting point and declare what I wanted to achieve.”

Tara started with personal training and also receiving nutritional coaching. She’s a big believer that it is about food and exercise to have a healthier lifestyle. As time went on, she was encouraged by Sam Hampton to try team training. Tara became an unstoppable force and within less than a year she lost 100 pounds.

“The people I met in these classes were encouraging, supportive, and inspiring. They had goals just like me. I won’t say my first class was a complete success. I couldn’t do a burpee and I had to leave early. I wasn’t sure I would try again, but I did.”

In July of 2015 Tara was asked if she would want to work for Fitness Premier. Through all her hard work she became inspiration to the company and we had to have her on our team. She got her dotFIT and personal trainer certifications. She started as a coach working with clients in the gym.

“I wanted the chance to help others to achieve what I had. The feeling when you reach a goal that important is indescribable. Because of where I started and how far I had come, I hoped I might be able to really help people to succeed in their own fitness journeys.”

With the help of Sam Hampton, she continued to grow as a coach, and then with the help of Tom Reidy, she was able to continue growing and became the manager of the Beecher location.

In 2016, Rick King came to her with the opportunity to franchise the location, she described it as the most terrifying and exciting thing she had ever heard. She decided to go ALL IN and franchise Fitness Premier Beecher.

“FP Beecher is where I am meant to be. It was MY club long before I bought it. We were one of the first clubs to franchise so it took a little longer than expected, but we made it official on May 10th, 2017, and weeks later started the expansion that we knew we needed to succeed. Like with my fitness journey, I jumped into the journey of Franchisee with both feet and I haven’t looked back.”

Don’t let what you think is reality limit you. Create your own reality. You are the only thing standing in your way! Stop thinking you can’t because you can.

The only person you need to compete with is the person you were yesterday. Get 1% better everyday and you will get where you want to go.

Failure is evidence you are trying. There are so many things that I have failed at along the way but look at where I am now. I didn’t get here by never failing. I got here by never giving up.
